So I’m starting to get into this thing called rucking. It’s basically walking with weights on. In my case I’m using a backpack, but you can do it with anything (dumbbells, weighted vest, sand bags). Walking and hiking by themselves are very fun and rewarding, but if you want to take it up an extra notch just add weights!
Above is the backpack I’m using. It is the GORUCK Bullet 15L and it is just an awesome bag. Since I’ve just started rucking, I’ve only got a 10 pound weight in there, but during my first 3+ mile walk (my very first ruck) with this thing on…I felt it.
I think the benefits of rucking or adding it to your normal workout routine is pretty self explanatory, but another cool thing is the social part. There are tons of rucking communities out there and fun events put on all around the country and I think around the world. I’ll be doing my first GORUCK event in November of this year and can’t wait.
Anyways, just a very minimal and simple way to get more out of your exercise. I’m going to incorporate this into my daily morning walks with my wife from now on and hopefully be as prepared as I can be come November.
Hope you enjoyed!
