Food Rules: An Eater’s Manual by Michael Pollan

Eat food, not too much, mostly plants. -M. Pollan

Just like the title of this book implies, it is a collection of 64 rules on what to eat and is split up into 3 parts. They are:

  1. What should I eat?
  2. What kind of food should I eat?
  3. How should I eat?

Each rule is about 2 pages long, as I read it on my cell phone through iBooks. So with that being said this book is a fairly quick read. It does seem like these things could be condensed into less rules, maybe even 1 rule, for instance the quote at the very beginning. But for someone looking for a little more than just the same old advice of “eat more fruits and vegetables”, this manual is very good and comprehensive.

Once again this is a light read with light humor (Pollan-esque) and probably something that can be read at random times or as a break from another book you are reading. It doesn’t even necessarily need to be read in order.

Happy readings…and eatings!
