Just Breathe

If you’ve ever tried meditating or just heard of it, I’m sure that you’ve heard one of the basic ways to meditate is to breathe. Just concentrate on your breathing, feeling the air go in and out of your lungs.

When I got into meditating, this was not what I started out with, but recently I have been doing it at my desk at work for the past week or so and I will try to continue. For me, and feel free to agree or disagree, this practice allows me to be in the present. I don’t worry about my surrounding, and I try to not think about the past or future (my problems). One thing that this practice does improve, not just mentally, but physically as well. As I’m breathing I notice how tense my shoulders and neck are, so I relax them. With these areas of my body more relaxed I’m less prone to those horrible tension headaches. Less pain means I’m happier, which means I’m in a better mental state, which hopefully means my happy mood rubs off on others and spreads.

Wow! I just realized how interconnected everything is…just from me breathing. Beautiful.

Anyways, let’s make the world a happier place and…just breathe.
