Technology is amazing. The advances that we have made over just the past 10 years are incredible. I really do get caught up in all the hype surrounding tech. New iPhone, camera gear, laptops and computers. But sometimes I have to sit back and really assess if it is going to improve my life. Do I really need the latest and greatest? Most of the time the answer is a resounding “no.”
It’s natural to want things. It’s natural to want to “keep up with the Jones’s.” I believe that if we didn’t have those feeling, we also wound’t have the need to take the time to slow down and reflect on our lives. It like that whole, “without evil, there is no good” kind of thing.
I don’t think we always have to resist our urges and forego things that we like that we might not necessarily need, but I think it is a natural part of our everyday lives that forces us to look a little more deeply and inwardly at ourselves.
Anyways, take the time to think a little longer about the decisions you make. Just like I’m doing right now, because I want the new Google Pixel phone. Ha!
