So becoming a minimalist has led me down other paths. Not sure how, but I’ve been doing a lot of “survival” research. Things like if a huge natural disaster were to happen type deal. Now I want to be prepared for such a situation and create a bag that would have all the essential gear I would need, also known as a bug out bag. So here is my dilemma…
I am continuing my path as a minimalist, but can a minimalist have a bug out bag? It may not seem essential and kind of falls under that category of “you never know when you might need it.” Does that go against minimalism to be prepper?
Just as an added background, I am a resident of California where we are due for a major earthquake with the San Andeas fault line.
As I write this I also just visited REI (outdoors store) and window shopped for things I would want/need in my bug out bag. Here’s my list:
What to do…what to do?
You can use the stuff on the list for more than just sitting in a bag. If you use it, you need it. And for the case of an emergency, you know, that it works 😉
Great point! If I think that way I’ll be able to really choose what I need and I’ll be testing everything out. Thanks! Much appreciated.
