First off, let me start by saying that I’ve completely failed my reading challenge. If you are big into book you might know the website goodreads. On that website you share, rate, review, track books, and follow other readers and what they are reading. You can also post a reading challenge, such as how many books you are going to read by the end of the year. I challenged myself to 52 books (1 book a week and I’m at 16/52 *sad face*). At the time of posting my challenge I was deep into books and was on track, but then life happened, jobs changed, moved, so I fell way behind.
Anyways, it took me several months just to finish this book, but now that I’ve finished it I don’t know how I waited so long. Here is the book I read…
Now that I can move past my failed challenge, this book was awesome. I liked it very much. I’m very much into mysteries and thrillers and this definitely had it. Let me give you the quick low down.
It’s about a boy named Daniel who gets hold of a book titled The Shadow of the Wind by an author named Julian Carax. Daniel is enchanted by the book and wants to learn more about the author and other books written by him. So as he investigates, this is when the fun begins (fun for us, the readers that is). Daniel can’t find any other copies of the book or any book by Carx for that matter, but why? And why are people so concerned with Daniel and this book more than ever?
Aside from finding more about the book and the author (Carax), we get to see Daniel grow up and watch his love life unfold, we get a lovable character in Fermin (basically Daniel’s sidekick), the villain Fumero, and a whole host of supporting characters. The back story is very rich and will pull you in.
I like it. I enjoyed it. I hope you do to. Happy readings!
