Another spot that was on our list to visit while in Fukuoka was Dazaifu. Below is a picture of the train station…
We got there a bit early so as you can see it was a bit empty, but the place soon filled up.
This was the entrance.
Just a very cool bridge to walk over.
Above is a beautiful shrine.
And now for some of the food we ate in Dazaifu…
This was the window to the little shop showing them make the famous 梅ヶ枝餅 (うめがえもち Or うめがやも). It’s a pastry filled with red bean.
Very cute and small spot. That’s pretty much the entire inside.
The menu.
The perfect pair.
The green of this matcha tea was so pretty.
A closer look at the 梅ヶ枝餅.
Another perfect pairing.
Close up of the 甘酒 (amazake). Very tasty. It was like eating a rice porridge made with sake.
These little snacks and drinks were delicious, but what also made it special was that I was sharing them with my beautiful wife. If you find your way to Japan and end up in Dazaifu, I definitely recommend sharing this with a loved one. If you’re a lone traveler, it’s still just as good. Soak in the beautiful surroundings and take the time to enjoy the moment.
Hope you enjoyed!
